Machiami Kamara is building Veiled Visionaries to increase visibility for Black Muslim women and connect brands to underserved communities. Founded in 2023, the platform has already partnered with global beauty brands and is funded largely through sponsorships and personal investment. Kamara, who has Ivorian roots and was raised in New York, aims to expand the initiative across Africa, starting with Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and South Africa. Beyond business, her journey has been shaped by living with Crohn’s disease, which she continues to manage alongside her entrepreneurial ambitions. Through fashion showcases and cultural storytelling, Kamara seeks to redefine modesty by highlighting diverse African identities, challenging stereotypes, and creating a more inclusive global fashion narrative.
