Dangote Cement bets big on Africa with capacity expansion

Dangote Cement plant in Africa with capacity expansion infrastructure.

Dangote Cement plans to invest $1 billion over the next four years to expand its production capacity across Africa. The announcement was made in Lagos by the company’s chief financial officer, who said the investment will support new and expanded facilities in markets including Nigeria and Ethiopia. The expansion is expected to lift the company’s total capacity by roughly 45% to about 80 million metric tons, financed through cash flow, credit facilities, and debt instruments. As governments across the continent ramp up spending on roads, ports, and power projects, demand for cement is rising quickly. With exports also set to increase significantly by 2030, Dangote Cement is positioning itself to capture a larger share of Africa’s growing construction boom.
