Kenya’s John Korir made a remarkable comeback at the Boston Marathon, recovering from an early fall to secure his victory. Even more impressive is that he became the second-fastest marathoner in Boston history, finishing in 2:04:45. In the women’s race, Sharon Lokedi denied Hellen Obiri a third consecutive title with a stunning performance, setting a new course record of 2:17:22. Lokedi, who initially feared she went out too fast as she approached Boston’s infamous hills, surged ahead in the final stretch to take home the prize. Meanwhile, in wheelchair racing, Swiss athlete Marcel Hug claimed his eighth Boston title, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first wheelchair marathon victory. American Susannah Scaroni triumphed in the women’s wheelchair race, marking her return after an injury.
