Cassava Technologies, founded by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, will invest up to $720 million in Africa’s first AI factory, developed in partnership with Nvidia. The ambitious plan starts with deploying 3,000 Nvidia GPUs in South Africa by June, with expansions to Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, and Morocco. Over the next few years, the company aims to roll out 12,000 GPUs continent-wide, building a robust AI ecosystem. The facility will support research, start-ups, and industries like healthcare and fintech. Cassava also plans to sell excess computing power to global Nvidia clients. The initiative is a bold move to ensure Africa isn’t left behind in the fourth industrial revolution.
