Coinbase, a leading US cryptocurrency exchange, has partnered with Onboard Global to launch peer-to-peer crypto payments in Nigeria, marking its first entry into the market. Under the collaboration, Nigerian users can purchase cryptocurrencies using the local currency by leveraging Onboard’s secure platform. Notably, the platform will waive KYC requirements for transactions below $100. Central to this initiative is Coinbase’s Base blockchain, a scalable, low-cost layer 2 solution built on Ethereum that enables fast and efficient transactions. This strategic move will broaden Coinbase’s global footprint and potentially shake up existing competition within the fast-growing Nigerian crypto industry.
