Gabon has taken a major step toward securing long-term conservation financing by signing a Letter of Intent with The Nature Conservancy for the Gabon Infini Project Finance for Permanence initiative. The plan aims to unlock up to $200 million over the next decade to protect the country’s vast tropical forests, wetlands, and oceans while supporting a nature-based economy. Building on more than a year of collaboration with communities and civil society, the initiative will fund projects that strengthen livelihoods, improve ecosystem management, and mitigate climate impact. As one of Africa’s most ecologically critical nations, Gabon hopes this model will safeguard its carbon-rich landscapes for future generations and reinforce its leadership in global conservation.
