Lagos, Nigeria, has once again lit up the global stage, ranking 14th worldwide and second in Africa for nightlife, according to Time Out Magazine. According to the magazine, 79% of locals rated Lagos positively, putting it ahead of Cairo, Egypt, and Marrakech, Morocco, which ranked third and fourth, respectively. Time Out’s list was based on thousands of interviews and expert input, highlighting cities with vibrant after-dark experiences. The Lagos State government, which acknowledged the rating, attributed the recognition to improved security and growing tourism, especially during the festive “Detty December” period. Meanwhile, Lagos is showing no signs of slowing down. Later this year, it is set to become the first African city to host the EI Water Race Championship, an electric raceboat series. The state government also has plans to organize a calendar of tourism events, further improving the tourist experience.
