Nigeria and Angola have signed a landmark visa waiver agreement for diplomatic passport holders, eliminating longstanding bureaucratic obstacles between Africa’s two largest oil-producing nations. Announced at the African Union Assembly in Addis Ababa, the pact allows faster official exchanges between West Africa’s largest economy and one of southern Africa’s most resource-rich countries. Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar emphasized that the deal transforms decades of goodwill into practical cooperation on trade, security, and regional policy coordination. The agreement positions both nations as leaders in African visa liberalization, following Ghana’s example of removing travel barriers to unlock continental integration. Experts view this diplomatic mobility as essential for achieving the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision, demonstrating how reciprocal openness can boost trade, investment, and shared development across Africa.
