Durban, South Africa – 4 November 2025 – StreetNet International is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar “Data is Power”, organised to commemorate the International Day of Street Vendors on 13 November 2025 at 4:00 PM (South Africa Time).
The event will highlight the results of a participatory research project (the Street Vendors Barometer) carried out in collaboration with the Global Labour Institute, and StreetNet affiliates — the Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA) and the Unión de Trabajadores y Trabajadoras de la Economía Popular (UTEP) in Argentina.
The research sheds light on the daily realities of street and market vendors in the two countries, including working conditions, access to finance and sanitation, family responsibilities, and more. Developed by and for grassroots workers, the findings aim to inform evidence-based policymaking rooted in workers’ lived experiences.
