Sun King’s African factories to curb imports

7

Sun King, the global leader in off-grid solar power, is supercharging its African operations with new manufacturing plants in Kenya and Nigeria. This strategic move is projected to slash import costs by a staggering $300 million over the next five years, keeping valuable capital within local economies. The Kenyan facility, its first large-scale plant in Africa, will produce up to 700,000 solar units annually, alongside energy-efficient televisions and smartphones tailored for off-grid living. The expansion marks a key step in Africa’s clean energy journey, supporting Sun King’s mission to power 1.8 billion people who lack reliable electricity. With over 300,000 new solar installations each month—triple its 2022 rate—the company is rapidly transforming how the continent accesses sustainable power.
