ANC Denies Allegations of Secret Talks with Zuma’s MK Party

4

The African National Congress (ANC) has firmly denied claims that it sought to bring former President Jacob Zuma and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) into the Government of National Unity (GNU). The ANC called the allegations “unfounded and misleading.” ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri stated that no such discussions have taken place and emphasized that all GNU negotiations have been conducted transparently and in line with the Constitution. This comes after a voice recording surfaced, allegedly featuring Zuma, suggesting the ANC had covertly tried to include the MKP in the GNU in a bid to exclude other parties like the Democratic Alliance (DA). The ANC reiterated its commitment to inclusive governance and warned that propagating unverified claims risks misleading members of the public and undermining trust in democratic processes.
