Teresa Clarke received South Africa’s prestigious Order of the Companions of O.R. Tambo, in Silver, recognising her longstanding contributions to education, media, justice, and the arts. The honour, awarded by Cyril Ramaphosa, celebrates foreign nationals who advance democracy, human dignity,, and international solidarity with South Africa. Clarke was recognized for founding the Student Sponsorship Programme, supporting legal rights initiatives, and promoting African voices globally through Africa.com and cultural institutions, including the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. She described the award as deeply meaningful after nearly three decades working alongside South African organizations and communities.
