Inside Ivanhoe’s record-breaking year in the DRC

Ivanhoe mines production

Ivanhoe Mines closed 2025 on a strong note, meeting its production targets at the Kamoa-Kakula copper complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo while setting an ambitious course for the years ahead. The mine produced nearly 389,000 tons of copper in concentrate, powered by record performance at its Phase 3 concentrator and the successful start-up of its new on-site smelter. As the smelter ramps up, Ivanhoe expects lower costs, higher margins, and new revenue from sulphuric acid sales, which are in hot demand across the Central African Copperbelt. Meanwhile, the company’s Kipushi operation delivered record zinc output, boosted by recent upgrades despite ongoing power challenges. Looking ahead, Ivanhoe projects steady growth in both copper and zinc production through 2026 and beyond, underlining its status as a rising heavyweight in critical minerals.
