Global tourism reached a new high in 2025, and Africa was one of the standout performers, recording an 8% rise in visitors to 81 million. Heavyweights, including Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and South Africa, led the charge, buoyed by more accessible visas, expanded air travel, and strong demand from major markets. Morocco enjoyed double-digit growth in arrivals and revenue, while Egypt and South Africa also posted impressive gains. Worldwide, international travel climbed to 1.52 billion trips, pushing tourism revenues to $1.9 trillion despite inflation and geopolitical uncertainty. Looking ahead, major sporting events and continued recovery are expected to keep momentum alive, even as over tourism and regional tensions pose fresh challenges.
