African Agriculture, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAGR), a pioneering company operating a commercial-scale alfalfa farm in Senegal and dedicated to food security for the coming century announced that its alfalfa farm (Les Fermes de la Teranga) has been honored with the Prix Walo Citizen Excellence award. The Walo Digital Group gave the Excellence Award on January 19, 2024.

This award significantly recognizes African Agriculture Inc.’s outstanding contributions to the well-being of African communities, particularly in the surrounding local communities of Ronkh and Ngnith in Senegal. African Agriculture’s initiatives, ranging from maternal health programs to academic and learning initiatives, as well as athletic contributions, are leaving a lasting impact by establishing a positive and dynamic presence and empowering citizens of these communities for their future.

The Walo Digital Group, comprised of esteemed journalists, has closely followed the transformative initiatives undertaken by African Agriculture, Inc. These initiatives, led by Maxine Gordon, Executive Director of African Agriculture, Inc., and Fatimata Ka, Director of Community and Public Relations have been instrumental in driving positive change within the communities they serve.

“This award is a significant milestone for us. It validates our commitment to corporate citizenship and our positive contributions to the community,” said Maxine Gordon, Executive Director of African Agriculture, Inc. “Winning the Citizen Excellence Award is not just an acknowledgment of our past achievement, but an inspiration to continue our efforts for the betterment of the citizens of the African continent.”

African Agriculture, Inc. is deeply committed to making a positive impact in local communities through partnerships, job creation, and sustainable development. Similar to the enduring Baobab tree, the organization values the ecosystem and the communities it nurtures.

In Senegal, this commitment is evident in AAGR’s local land program, which allocates 2000 hectares annually to the villages of the Ndiael Reserve, with an equal distribution between the company’s main local Communes, Ronkh and Ngnith. AAGR further supports these communities by providing alfalfa for livestock feed and implementing a maternal health program, “Shuttle for Sonograms,” offering essential care for pregnant women who previously had to endure a 52-kilometer walk on degraded roads.

AAGR is actively involved in community development, focusing on repairing schools, donating computers, and opening study halls for local students and constructing the Great Mosque of the Commune of Ngnith, benefiting 74 villages. The organization has initiated a dental program in collaboration with a United States high school student group, aiming to raise dental awareness and provide basic dental health education to 15,000 people.

Emphasizing sports and community cohesion, the company actively supports local sports teams, with success defined by not only profit, but by the flourishing growth of local communities.

In response to the global demand driven by an expected population surge to 9.6 billion by 2050, African Agriculture’s mission is to harness Africa’s abundant natural resources, and significantly boost food and protein supply. The strategic development of advanced Alfalfa farms in Senegal epitomizes African Agriculture’s commitment to optimizing agricultural yields and harvests, thereby contributing to a sustainable future while meeting the growing global need for food security.
