Countries Expand Travel Restrictions Amid Rising Ebola Threat

Governments worldwide are strengthening travel restrictions and health screenings following a major Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo that the World Health Organization has classified as a global public health emergency. The United States banned non-citizens who recently traveled to the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan from entering the country, with the restriction subsequently extended to also apply to green card holders. Canada has imposed a 90-day entry ban on residents from the same countries, while The Bahamas, Jordan, and Bahrain have introduced 30-day entry suspensions. Kenya has activated enhanced border surveillance, while India has launched airport screenings and urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the affected region. As health authorities warn that the outbreak could spread across borders, neighboring countries have also activated emergency response systems, isolation centers, and stricter monitoring to contain potential transmission.
