Farmers Report Stronger Cocoa Harvests as Rainfall Picks Up

Rainfall across Côte d’Ivoire’s key cocoa-growing regions improved in intensity last week compared to previous weeks, raising optimism for a stronger mid-crop harvest. Although overall precipitation remained below average in most areas, the improvement was enough to support crop development. Farmers in several regions, including Soubre in the west, reported above-average rainfall, while those in areas such as Daloa and Yamoussoukro said conditions were improving despite still falling short of the average. Farmers noted that warehouses were receiving more cocoa beans from farms and that many pods were approaching harvest readiness for June. The world’s leading cocoa producer is currently in its rainy season, which typically runs from April to mid-November. Growers said continued improvement in rainfall over the coming weeks would effectively eliminate concerns about potential supply tightness.
