US Exports: Top African Markets for 2024 Unveiled

1

US exports to Africa surged in 2024, with Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco topping the list of destinations, reflecting a deepening economic partnership across the Atlantic. Egypt led with $6.89 billion in imports, driven by demand for machinery, aircraft, and medical supplies. South Africa followed with $5.8 billion, fueled by its industrial needs, while Morocco’s $5.2 billion haul reflected strong trade in agriculture and aerospace. Nigeria and Ethiopia rounded out the top five, highlighting growing interest in American food, pharmaceuticals, and industrial goods. From vehicles to healthcare products, US exports are increasingly aligned with Africa’s development priorities, signaling fresh momentum for trade under the AfCFTA. However, this progress could be threatened by the Trump administration’s tariffs, which are set to go into effect in early July.
